Teaching Profile
My teaching philosophy
I believe that any and all people have the right and more importantly the ability to learn. The methods and techniques of education have changed greatly over the last 25 years. However, one thing will never change: The amazing desire of a student to learn and discover new things when the right motivation is presented.
Each person is given special gifts and talents they can use to enrich their lives and the lives of everyone they meet. It is important for each person to discover these gifts so they can use them to learn and grow to their fullest intellectual potential. The enthusiasm, insight and patience of a teacher is just what a student needs to discover those talents.
No one person should be compared to any other person. Once comparisons are made, limits are then
placed on that individual. These limits could be made unintentionally, but in the eyes of a student any limits
made by either peer or teacher can have long-lasting effects. In my diverse teaching experience, I have come across many students who do not fall under the legal category of "at risk," but do require additional support and guidance to avoid falling between the cracks.
It is my goal to help each student realize his or her own potential so he or she can become an
enthusiastic lifelong learner.
I have a variety of teaching experience expanding from kindergarten through college course work. Each of these experiences has helped to provide me with a unique view of teaching and learning. On the following pages you will see a detailed view of the "Who, What, When, Where, Why and How" of my teaching journey.
